It is Sooooooo Fun!
Expert fisherman linda and me went for our prawning date on valentines day.
Surprisingly, there are many ppl there. We are wondering y do couples spend there v day here, or maybe they cant be bothered at all.
Lucky Linda got a prawn after she cast the rod in for 30 seconds. I was super excited. but i don't dare to poke it the bait (which i called it "pork" for no reason) and linda keep scolding me and said that the prawns are "Halal". It is actually chicken heart. Quite gross looking, like minced chicken heart. But not as smelly as expected, and ya, i actually went to smell it... muahaha
After around an hour, my basket is still empty. I started cursing n swearing and acusing that there are no prawns in the pond. Linda aso did not manage to catch any after the first stupid prawn.
So i decided to move over to pond 2 which i claimed that the " kena caught frequency" is higher.
I stood beside a group of "ah bengs". They were smoking like mad, n drinking beer there, so i became a passive smoker for quite some time. That ah beng is really pro! every 5 minutes, he would get prawn.
I was struggling, dono if i shud approach him n ask him for some tips or not. i decided to do so as i have wasted an hour, as i caught nth.
So it goes:
Me: "wah, u are so good at prawning! every minute got one prawn HOR?"
Him: " OK LA, i come here everyweek MAH"
Me: "Oh, it's my first time here. One hour LIAO, i haven got any prawn yet LEH..."
Him: "IZIT?! u use what MEAT to catch?"
Me: "Oh, the chicken heart LOH."
Him: "Ai ya, U use this gao woon LA! Sure can catch one. If u use this still canot catch then i dono LIAO LA."
Me: " Erm, ok.. Thank you. Can u help me to poke the worm in? i very scared LEH."
Him: "LAI.."
After 15 minutes.....
Me: "Dun have LEH! WHYYYYYYYYY!!!!" crying out loud.
Him: " OK, Never mind, i ask my Shi Fu to come"
Shi Fu came and performed some magic to my hook and fishing line.
Shi Fu: " I confirm you can catch one la.. if caught one, how u going to reward me?"
Me: " Reward? Actually HOR, u must give me extra one hour leh, cos ur hook is spoilt mah.. i wasted an hour leh!"
Then Shi Fu tried to change topic and we started putting the bait in the pond. After 2 mins, i can see that the floating object sinking down, WHICH MEANS GOT PRAWN! OMG, i m so excited and happy. So the past 2 hours, i think i catch more prawns than the ah beng beside me! everyone at pond 2 thinks i am the expert. But i screamed when ever there is a prawn. and ah beng have to help me to remove the prawn from the hook. muahahaha, poor ah beng!
After that, mig came to join us, and we shared the fruit of our labour. haha BBQ prawns!
